On the evening of the 19^th of November, three days after the release of Beaujolais Nouveau, the famous French, fresh-made wine, we had invited Mrs. Anna Takino Brot to be our guest speaker.  She talked about the French culture, concerning wine and chansons especially.

She explained how the French enjoyed life with wine, in what occasions they choose Beaujolais Nouveau, the difference between Grand wine and Beaujolais, the party which is called “La fate voisin”, meaning the neighbor’s party, and how friendships with neighbors are made through this party.

After the talk she sang several French chansons which are all well known in Japan, too.

All the participants enjoyed her discussion and chansons, as well as sampling Beaujolais wine. We also served some snacks which were prepared by staff from the Aoba International Lounge. Everybody said the food was delicious.

The event was concluded with a quiz about France. It was really an enjoyable evening, filled with a French atmosphere.
